ASTRONAUT EDGAR D. MITCHELL

Apollo 14 Moonwalker

The Apollo Program began before the first American was launched into space. In July, 1960, NASA announced that a program to fly astronauts around the moon would follow the planned Mercury program, but with President Kennedy's famous speech on May 25, 1961, the focus on the Apollo missions shifted to a lunar landing and came into sharp focus with the concrete goal of acheiving this before the decade's end.

The dream first became reality July 20, 1969. Just two years later Apollo 14, commanded by Alan Shepard, landed for the third time on the moon. The members of the Apollo 14 prime crew were Alan Shepard Jr., Stuart A. Roosa (command module pilot), and Edgar D. Mitchell (lunar module pilot). Here is an opportunity to own an autographed photo of one of only eleven men to walk on the moon.
