It is our goal that there be no better place to buy and sell historical collectibles online than Seven Seas History Auction. Consequently we created this auction for YOU, both as a buyer and as a seller. It's not only a terrific place to find that historical collectible you've been looking for, but also a great way to sell some of your own personal treasures. Perhaps you want to start a collection, add to an existing one, or just get some much needed cash. Then this is THE place. We ask that you tell a friend or two because your success with this auction is up to YOU. We need people like yourself to participate as often as possible to help make this prosper. Hopefully we'll all have fun, meet interesting people, and gain some interesting knowledge along the way. Now for the rules:

Registration is FREE! Browsing is strongly encouraged but you must register in order to buy or sell at this auction. Once you have read and agreed to all the rules registering is simple. Just fill in the required fields and submit your information. It's that easy!
Shortly after registering you will receive confirmation of your registration along with your required password. Put this in a safe place as it will be needed for bidding and selling. If you wish to change your assigned password to one more familiar, you may do so by clicking change registration at any auction page.
You are now ready to buy and sell at the Seven Seas History Auction. Thanks and good luck! But first, you need to understand the rules. It helps make your auctioning experience more enjoyable.

By submitting your registration you agree to all the rules, regulations, disclaimers, and terms contained herein.

Eligibility. Our services are available only to individuals who can form legally binding contracts under applicable law. Without limiting the foregoing, our services are not available to minors under 18 years of age. If you do not qualify, please do not use our services.
Persons registering agree to provide accurate personal information. Anyone providing erroneous information will be removed from the database.
The intentional use of this service for fraudulent purposes can result in prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
Flagrant acts of dishonesty will result in being barred from future use of this service.

Privacy: Your personal information will not be sold or divulged to any interested party for marketing purposes. Only Seven Seas History Auction will be permitted to send newsletters, special email, or update information to registered users.
Personal information may be provided only to registered users on an individual basis if deemed absolutely necessary by Seven Seas Trading Company, Ltd., Seven Seas History Auction, or in cases where required by law.
"Spamming" or the sending of unsolicited email to registered users is strictly forbidden.

Contacting the Seller: If you receive a winning bid email notification from Seven Seas History Auctions and do not contact seller within 5 days of that notification the item may be relisted in the auction at the seller's discretion. Seven Seas History Auctions may no longer honor any future bids made by you.

Fees: For a limited time only this is a free (no selling fees) auction.

Auction Items Please put up history related auction items only. By history related we mean anything collectible that is of a historical nature. Some examples of historical time periods are: Prehistoric, Ancient Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Celtic, Byzantine, Pre-Columbian, Middle Ages, Colonial America, Civil War, World Wars I & II, Space exploration, etc. This includes, but is not limited to, books, newspapers, letters, weapons (ancient or antique only), ephemera, coins, documents, autographs, art, artifacts, utilitarian items, photos, etc. Seven Seas History Auction reserves the right to remove any item(s) not deemed historical in nature.
The posting of any item(s) considered illegal is strictly prohibited.
All items must be, to the best of your knowledge, authentic unless otherwise stated. Any user found to intentionally misrepresent or mislead a bidder can be removed from future use of this auction service. Complaints about fraud often tend to be misunderstandings about the product condition, shipping amount, etc. You should clarify any concerns before you bid. Unfortunately, fraud is a reality of doing business, both on and off the internet. You should report any fraudulent activity to the proper authorities if it happens to you.

Please note: You are allowed to put links in your description area for other items or information you wish to sell. All we ask is that you be reasonable about the size of your description. Please, NO animated gifs of bunny rabbits etc... The quicker your page loads, the quicker potential bidders can view your offerings and the more likely it will attract more bidders.

Users: Users may not interfere with the normal operation of this service. All users agree not to disrupt any auction in progress including the emailing of any seller or bidder with the intention of circumventing the normal bidding process. Objectionable material will not be posted by any person using this service and all users agree not to transmit any viruses, trojan horses, worms, timebombs, cancelbots, or any other programming that may damage, interfere with, or intercept any data of Seven Seas History Auction or any of its users.
Users may not manipulate the price of any posted auction. Shill bidding is prohibited.
Users agree to refrain from "spamming" or the sending of unsolicited email to registered users.
It is recommended that email from interested bidders be answered in a timely manner.

Feedback Manipulation is strictly forbidden. This includes the intentional leaving of feedback by yourself, or others connected to you, in order to enhance your rating; the intentional leaving of negative feedback under an alias user name; and the leaving of negative feedback for matters unrelated to the transaction.

Seven Seas History Auctions accepts no liability on items placed or sold through this auction. Arrangements must be made between buyer and seller for shipping and payment at their own risk

BUYING & SELLING RULES, ETC.

ADDING PICTURES: Items with pictures generally get 2-3 times as many hits as items without pictures. You can add a picture with the item that you put up for bid by entering the full URL of its location on your site:

For example: http://www.yoursite.com/yourpix.gif (or /yourpix.jpg)

The picture can be in a .gif or .jpg format and should not be bigger than 200 x 200 pixels. We strongly recommend that all images be reduced in memory to less than 75K. This allows for quicker viewing and can be accomplished with most photo-editing programs.

Length of auctions

• Auctions last 1 -14 days and can end at any hour of the day coinciding with the time of listing(CST). The seller chooses the auction length.
• If there is any bidding in the last 1 minute of an auction, the auction will be extended in 1 minute increments. This is similar to the 'going once, going twice' period found in traditional auctions.

When an auction ends

• The seller and winning bidder are notified via e-mail and provided with each other's e-mail address.
• Buyers and sellers should contact each other within 3 business days.
• After 5 business days, if the seller has had no contact, the seller may relist the item to auction at his/her option.

Bidding

• When you bid, enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the item and our automated bidding system will bid on your behalf.
• The automated-bidding system will never bid more than the smallest amount (the established bid increment) necessary for you to outbid other people, or more than your maximum amount.
• All bids are made using pre-set bid increments, which vary between the current price of the item and/or the seller's established bid increment.
• If another bidder outbids your maximum bid, you will automatically be notified by e-mail.
• In the case of a tie for the high bid, the earlier bid takes precedence.
• You will be notified by email if you have won a bid.
• Please keep in mind that this is an auction and not an approval sale. The ability to return a sold item is strictly up to the Seller's discretion. In cases of total misrepresentation the Buyer may have other legal recourse with the Seller.

Bidding on reserve price auctions

• A seller has the option to set a second price that is higher than their opening bid - this is a reserve price auction.
• At the end of an auction, if the high bid does not meet or exceed the seller's reserve price, the seller does NOT have to sell their item to the high bidder.
• If an item has a reserve price, it will be indicated on the description page of the item. It will also show whether or not the reserve price has been met. (The bidder is not shown the actual reserve price.)
• Sellers sometimes use a reserve price on high-end items if they want to protect their investment in order to ensure the market does not undervalue what they are selling.

Your responsibility as a bidder

• When you place a bid, you are indicating your intention and ability to buy the item at any price up to your maximum bid amount.
• You will be asked to verify your bid before it is accepted. However, once it is accepted you cannot retract your bid.
• If you are the winning bidder it is your obligation to complete the transaction with the Seller. Be aware of what you are bidding on (Caveat Emptor). Once you place your bid you are entering into an agreement to purchase the item from the Seller should you be the high bidder.

Placing an item up for auction
Setting your opening bid

• The opening bid is the amount at which you want the bidding to begin.
• Your opening bid should be significantly lower than what you expect the item to sell for - this helps to get the bidding going.
• Bid increments are also established by the Seller. This is an advantage for the Seller as lesser increments encourage more bidding, while greater increments encourage serious bidding. We suggest increments be in whole numbers ($1, $2, $5, $10, $25, etc.) depending on the opening bid of the item.

Reserve price auctions - optional

• Reserve prices are optional. We recommend you use a reserve price ONLY if you are uncertain at what price the market will value your item.
• Some people will not bid on items they know have a reserve price. This is because even if they are the high bidder, they will not get the item if their bid doesn't exceed your reserve price.
• Once a bid has been entered that is equal to or greater than the reserve price, the bid will be entered accordingly and the item will show reserve price met.

Using a reserve price

• A reserve price should be a price that is higher than your opening bid. It is also the lowest price at which you agree to sell the item.
• If the auction closes and no bids have been submitted that exceed your reserve price, no one wins and you do not have to sell your item.
• Bidders will not know what your reserve price is, only that you have one.

Your responsibility as a seller

• When you auction an item, you agree to sell that item to the high bidder.
• If you back out of selling your item, you may be barred from using Seven Seas History Auction in the future.
• Sellers have complete control over the length, starting bid, bid increment, and reserve price of each item auctioned.
• Seller is responsible for complying with all laws and government regulations which may apply to their transaction. This includes, but is not limited to, taxes, duty, and shipping regulations
• The Seller certifies, by listing their item at auction, that he/she is the rightful owner of the item so listed and that he/she has the right to sell the listed item.
• You must not intentionally misrepresent the item being auctioned.
• You may not manipulate the bidding of any item listed at auction. In other words, a seller may not bid on his/her own auction, either personally or through the use of a second party. Shill bidding is strictly prohibited.

Seven Seas History Auction and Seven Seas Trading Company, Ltd. is only a third party listing service and does not represent the Buyer, Seller, or transaction. Seven Seas History Auctions and Seven Seas Trading Company, Ltd. is not responsible nor liable for the quality, suitability, or accurateness of descriptions of any item posted at our auction service and further makes no warranty, express or implied, with respect to the information provided herein and specifically disclaims the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Seven Seas History Auction and Seven Seas Trading Company, Ltd. does not warrant that the information provided within will meet any standard or personal requirements or that the operation of this service will be uninterrupted or error free. Users of these services do so entirely at their own risk.

Seven Seas History Auction and Seven Seas Trading Company, Ltd. and any of its officers or employees are not liable for any incidental or consequential losses, financial or otherwise, which may arise directly or indirectly, out of the use of this auction service.

Sellers, Bidders, and Buyers agree to indemnify and hold harmless Seven Seas History Auction and Seven Seas Trading Company, Ltd. and any of its officers and employees for any damages, omissions, errors, or problems encountered through the use of this auction service.

Sellers, Bidders, Buyers, Seven Seas History Auction, and Seven Seas Trading Company, Ltd. are considered independent contractors and no agency, partnership, or joint venture is intended nor created by the use of these auction services.

This agreement and all of its terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois as such laws are applied to agreements entered into and performed by using this service.
