Colony 1773A total of 28,318 five
shilling notes were printed according to an act
of the General assembly of Pennsylvania. The
notes were issued and dated October 1, 1773 and
were printed by Hall and Sellers. The face is
printed in red and black with one border being in
both colors. The note is handsigned by Barnaby
Barnes, William Fisher and Benjamin Morgan. Printed
in two colors, red and black. A
cast cut of a farming scene is on the back along
with the words:
"To Counterfeit is DEATH" to obviously
discourage counterfeiting.
